01 The one-build-per-champion problem
A lot of build advice is stored per champion and served everywhere. You lock Ahri, you get the Ahri page, and that page was written for mid lane on the Rift. Take it into ARAM and it's missing the mode's own items and the sustain you need when you can't go back. Take it into Arena and it says nothing about augments, which are the part that actually decides the round.
It's not wrong so much as pointed at a different game. What you want is a tool that knows which queue you're in before it recommends anything.
02 What changes per mode
- Summoner's Rift. Role matters. The same champion wants a different rune page and item path mid than it does support, and the build has to account for lane, jungle timers and a full item progression.
- ARAM. One lane, no recall, constant fighting. Sustain and poke get weighted differently, and the mode carries balance changes that don't exist on the Rift.
- Arena. Short rounds, two-player teams, and augments that reshape a champion outright. The right augment matters more than the fourth item you'll never finish buying.
03 How Warden handles it
Warden reads the queue from the League client along with your champion and role, and swaps its recommendation model with it. On the Rift you get a full role-aware build: runes, summoner spells, skill order and item path. In ARAM and Arena you get augments ranked alongside the build, because that's the decision the mode actually puts in front of you.
It all imports in one click into rune pages and item sets Warden creates and names as its own, so nothing you built by hand gets touched. Warden covers all 173 champions, is free for Windows 10 and newer, has no ads and needs no account. It's in open beta.
04 Where the builds come from
Every night we pull the current patch from Data Dragon and CommunityDragon and rebuild the recommendations from match data, rather than reprinting someone else's tier list. Win rates get ranked on a Wilson lower bound, which is a long way of saying a 58% win rate over 40 games doesn't get to outrank a 53% over twelve thousand. The small-sample noise stops floating to the top, which matters most on the champions nobody plays.
Mode changes the model, not just the item list. Rift builds are role-aware, so mid Ahri and support Ahri don't get handed the same page. ARAM weights sustain and poke, because you can't go back. Arena ranks augments alongside the build, because the augment is usually what decides the round.
Warden itself is a native Windows app, which is why it's 26 MB and opens instantly instead of starting a browser engine to draw a list of item icons. It also runs on its own, with no Overwolf client underneath it.
The honest take
If you mostly queue ARAM and Arena, a mode-blind build tool is worse than none, because it's confidently pointing you at the wrong game.
Warden reads the queue before it recommends anything and ranks the augments that actually decide the round. It does that with no account, no ad in the corner, and no build you have to subscribe to see, which none of the other League companion apps manage.
