Delve is a visual disk space analyzer for Windows. Explore folders in a treemap, sunburst, or file list, then review what you want to keep or remove. This page covers the Windows 11 x64 preview.
Use the EXE for a regular installation, Start menu entry, and automatic update checks. Open the downloaded installer and follow its prompts.
Portable ZIP
Extract the entire ZIP, then open Delve/Delve.exe inside the extracted folder. Keep the accompanying files together. Portable copies need the installer to enable automatic updates.
Runtime
Both packages are self-contained. You do not need to install a separate .NET runtime.
Platform
The downloads here are for Windows 11 on x64 PCs. Check Settings > System > About for your system type.
Open Delve and choose a folder you recognize, such as Downloads, using Ctrl+O.
Let the scan finish, then compare the largest regions in Treemap with the entries in Files. A group of small files can occupy more space than any single large file.
Inspect the selected item's location. Preview a supported local file with the space bar or reveal it in Explorer before deciding what to do.
If you want to clean up, add known items to Collector and review the full selection before confirming a move to the Recycle Bin. Keep backups of anything you may need again.
Delve requests administrator access for fast whole-drive NTFS scans. Declining elevation still allows ordinary folder scanning, subject to permissions. Scan warnings matter: inaccessible locations, cloud placeholders, or skipped links can leave part of a drive unmeasured.
Undo applies to eligible Recycle Bin moves in the same app session. Emptying the bin or confirming permanent deletion removes that recovery route. A selected size is not a guarantee of recovered disk space.
Installed copies check for updates shortly after launch and every five minutes while open. You can also choose Check for Updates in the Delve menu. Update installation uses the app's confirmation flow; a busy scan or pending cleanup may need to finish first.
Portable copies do not install updates automatically. Use the installer if you want the update flow, or download and extract a newer portable package separately. See release history for published changes.
04 Know what stays local and what connects
Disk scans run on your PC. The Windows preview also contacts services for account and referral features, licensing, updates, and identified first-use and launch analytics. PostHog and the first-use Discord notification receive Windows account information. Local scanning does not mean the app has no network activity.
Read the Windows privacy details before installation. Diagnostic exports help support investigate problems. Posters can include visible filenames and paths, so inspect an export before sharing it.
For referral progress, open Account & Referral Rewards in the app. Use the invite and reward options shown there; pricing and free options explain the individual offer. Team arrangements are separate.
