Rapid serial visual presentation

Every word,
brought to the
same point.

Fovea holds each word where your eye already rests. Nothing to scan, no line to lose — just the next word, and the next.

What it is

Reading is mostly eye movement. Fovea removes it.

On a page your eyes don't glide — they jump, four or five hops a line, and back again every time a word doesn't quite land. Most of reading's effort goes into the jumps, not the words.

RSVP shows one word at a time in a fixed spot. Hold the words still and the jumping — and its cost — disappears.

The red letter

One letter never moves.

Every word has a point where, once your eye lands on it, the whole word resolves without a second look. It sits just left of centre and drifts as words lengthen.

Fovea finds that letter, paints it red, and pins it to the reticle. Word after word changes width around it — but the place you look stays exactly still.

Why it's different

Not built to make you faster.
Built so you finish.

The honest dial

Speed-reading has promised a thousand words a minute for a decade and never delivered comprehension with it. Fovea doesn't pretend. A skilled reader tops out near 400, and each book is measured on load so the dial tells the truth — set 400 and you read 400.

A focus rail, not a speed rail

A single word on a still point leaves attention nowhere to slip. For readers who find a wall of text exhausting — eyes drifting, lines lost — that can be the difference between opening a chapter and actually finishing it.

Pauses that keep the shape

A comma gets a beat, a full stop a real one; long words hold longer, and playback eases in when you press play. The sentence structure RSVP usually throws away is kept where it belongs.

Bring your own books

Drop a file in. Start reading.

Fovea parses the file on your machine — spine order, chapters, paragraphs, page numbers stripped — and keeps it in your browser. No conversion step, no upload.

Turn any passage into a GIF.

Paste text, set a speed, and Fovea renders the same reticle as a looping clip — the reading experience, in something you can post.

Local by default

Nothing leaves this machine.

No account, no upload, no server. The reader runs entirely in your browser — your books live in local storage and never leave it. Nothing you read is sent anywhere.
